Patriotic Strawberry Cream Puffs

My patriotic strawberry cream puffs are sure to bring smiles and are perfect for Memorial Day or Fourth of July celebrations this summer!
Servings: 8 people
Course: Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 17 oz package ready to bake puff pastry sheets
  • 1 lb strawberries cleaned and sliced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • star sprinkle decorations
Homemade Whipped Cream
  • 8 oz heavy whipping cream COLD
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract

Method

  1. Combine strawberries with ¼ cup granulated sugar. Refrigerate.
  2. Preheat oven to 400℉.
  3. Thaw puff pastry per package directions. Unfold sheets onto a floured surface. Cut 8 star shapes with a star cookie cutter.
  4. Bake on parchment paper line cookie sheet per package directions, approximately 14 minutes on 400℉. Let cool.
  5. Slice each pastry star with a serrated knife to form a top and a bottom, each still star shaped.
Homemade Whipped Cream
  1. Whip all ingredients with electric mixer on medium speed until semi stiff peaks will form when the beaters are lifted. The colder the cream is when you start, the easier this will go. You can even chill a metal bowl to whip the cream in if you're working in a warm room!
Finish Cream Puffs
  1. Layout star bottoms. Use a decorator bag or sandwich bag with corner snipped off to cover each bottom with whipped cream. Top whipped cream with the sugared strawberries. Add the star tops. Add a dallop of whipped cream on top of each pastry. Top with star sprinkles. Chill and serve. Enjoy!
