Star Spangled Strawberries

These sweet strawberries are an easy patriotic treat for any Memorial Day or Fourth of July gathering. The touch of crisco helps the chocolate harden with a beautiful satin finish and the star sprinkles will add fun and color to your dessert display! Makes about two dozen depending on size of berries. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs strawberries rinsed and dried
  • 12 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ tsp crisco shortening
  • 3 tbsp star sprinkles

Method
 

  1. Melt chocolate and crisco shortening in a microwave safe dish by microwaving on 80% power in 30 second intervals stirring at each interval until melted.
  2. Dip each strawberry in the melted chocolate mixture and set in a muffin liner or on parchment paper.
  3. Quickly add sprinkles as you go before chocolate begins to harden.
  4. Refrigerate to help chocolate harden.

Notes

Dry the berries thoroughly after rinsing to make sure chocolate will adhere.
