Method
Rolled Sugar Cookies
- With an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Combine.
- Cover and chill for one hour.
- Preheat oven t0 400℉.
- Roll out dough on floured surface to ¼ inch thick with floured rolling pin. Cut into star and circle shapes with cookie cutters. Place one inch apart on parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
- Bake 6 to 8 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.
Easy Royal Icing
- Combine ingredients with an electric mixer on high for two minutes or until soft ripples form and hold their form for five seconds or so. You can add more powdered sugar if too thin or more water if too thick.
Decorate Cookies
- Outline and flood the cookies with the royal icing using a piping tip and decorating bag or sandwich bag with the corner snipped off. Add sprinkles while the icing is wet. Once the icing has hardened (about two hours), use the edible marker to finish the clocks! Enjoy!
